Far Too Wide For Me

Composed By: Patrick Downes

Em7-5 (0201) Fm6 (1213) Ab (5343)

C Em Em7-5 A7
I sit somewhere along the bay and stare at islands far away
Dm Fm6 D7 Dm7 G7
Their gray and misty outlines appear way out to sea
C Em Em7-5 A7
But clouds are never what they seem and far off winds dissolve my dreams
Dm Fm6 Dm7 G7 C G7
I do believe this ocean is far too wide for me

C Em Em7-5 A7
With Honolulu on my mind and someone there I left behind
Dm Fm6 D7 Dm7 G7
I wish that there were someway to walk across the sea
C Em Em7-5 A7
It seems to me I always lose when fighting any homesick blues
Dm Fm6 Dm7 G7 C
I do believe this ocean is far too wide for me

Bridge:
Am D7 G
I wish I could be watching those blue waters flow
       F C
As the tradewinds blow all the clouds away
Ab Eb
And you would be there, sweet and lovely by my side
       F C G7
As the sea birds glide and the palm trees sway

C Em Em7-5 A7
But there is little I can do except to dream when I’m feeling blue
Dm Fm6 D7 Dm7 G7
It seems that there are some things that are not meant to be
C Em Em7-5 A7
As I get up I feel a chill what this place needs is getting used to still
Dm Fm6 Dm7 G7 C Dm7 Fm6 C
I do believe this ocean is far too wide for me
